This volume is centered around Arendt’s last book project, The Life of the Mind. She started working on it in the late 60s and it was unfinished when she died in 1975. The print edition will contain Arendt’s typescript of the last version she left behind of the first and second parts, on Thinking and Willing, and the title page of the third part, on Judging. It will also include other texts Arendt composed and presented within the framework of her book project. Among these are her article ‘Thinking and Moral Considerations,’ published in 1971, and typewritten and handwritten notes and comments which she used for her lecture course and seminars on The Life of the Mind at the New School in 1974-1975. The digital edition will contain earlier typescripts of The Life of the Mind as well.

 

Dieser Band ist um Arendts letztes Buchprojekt, The Life of the Mind, zentriert. Sie begann die Arbeit daran in den späten 1960ern und hinterließ es, als sie 1975 starb, unvollendet. Die Druckausgabe beinhaltet Typoskripte der letzten nachgelassenen Versionen der ersten beiden Teile, Thinking und Willing wie auch die Titelseite des dritten Teils Judging. Zudem wird der Band andere Texte versammeln, die im Rahmen dieses Buchprojekts verfasst und präsentiert worden sind. Darunter befindet sich ihr Artikel „Thinking and Moral Considerations“, der 1971 erschien sowie hand- und maschinenschriftlichen Notizen und Kommentare, die Arendt für die Vorlesung und das Seminar über The Life of the Mind schrieb, die sie an der New School zwischen 1974 und 1975 hielt. Die digitale Edition wird zudem frühere Typoskripte von The Life of the Mind beinhalten.
