On Juni 28, 2025, the doors to the Long Night of Science opened from 5 p.m. to midnight. The Critical Edition was there with hands-on activities, reading and quizzes.

News from Jul 12, 2025

At the edition's information stand in the Rost- und Silberlaube of FU Berlin, visitors were able to find out about the edition's work in conversation with the staff of the Complete Works. There were stickers with Arendt quotes and sachets of flower seeds to take home - all in the spirit of the “beginning”, which Arendt saw as a central moment of political action.

In the computer room next to the information stand, a Hannah Arendt quiz for young and old awaited the guests with sweets to be won. There was also a hands-on activity: Visitors could create their own typescripts on a typewriter or learn the first steps of transcribing Arendt's revisions - a real encounter with the practice of editing.

A reading followed at 8 p.m.; a montage of excerpts from central works by Hannah Arendt was presented - each of which could be heard in the newly edited versions.

According to the results of our quiz, around a quarter of participants believed that Arendt had not written a book on revolution. We are very pleased that On Revolution will be available in a critically edited version with the release of volume 11 (planned for 2029 in print / digital 2030)!

We would like to thank all visitors for their interest, their questions and their participation - it was an event full of exciting, wonderful encounters and we look forward to next year!
