Rieke Trimcev's research focuses on democratic theory, the history of concepts and metaphors, and memory studies. She has published on Hannah Arendt's agonal understanding of politics and her theory of political judgment. After research stays in Paris, Oxford, and New York, Rieke Trimcev headed the Käthe Kluth Junior Research Group "Political Integration through Conflict?" at the University of Greifswald. In 2024, she habilitated with a thesis on Judith N. Shklar's theory of political obligations, and since 2024 she has been a member of the board of the German Political Science Association (DVPW). In 2025, she was appointed to the chair Politische Theorie und Ideengeschichte, which she currently represents.
